The MILD Procedure

The MILD procedure, which stands for Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression, is a new approach to reduce pain and improve mobility for people with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). If you suffer from LSS, this procedure can help you return to a normal level of activity with less pain.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE MILD PROCEDURE

After making a tiny incision in your back, your trained doctor will use a fluoroscope and specialized surgical instruments to find and remove small bone fragments and excess ligament tissue from your spinal canal. This procedure decreases the compression on your nerves, reducing pain and restoring mobility. Some doctors have described the procedure as “removing a kink in a drinking straw.”
