Kirsten Dawson, MSPAS, PA-C

Ms. Dawson enjoys working directly with people, whether to develop a diagnosis based on their complaints and a physical examination or to educate them about the lifestyle changes they can make to impact their health. However it happens, she uses her knowledge and insight to help people.

She is also driven to succeed. Not only does she seek out Continuing Medical Education (CME) events, such as the South Carolina Annual Spring CME Forum: Advances in Practice, but she attends national conferences as well, such as the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) Annual Conference.

Education and Background

After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry — with an emphasis in Biochemistry and a minor in Psychology — from the University of San Diego, Ms. Dawson moved across the country. She earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She made Dean’s List at both schools.

Board Certification and Associations

Ms. Dawson has completed certification training from the American Heart Association (AHA) to become a Basic Life Support (BLS) provider, an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider and a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider. She is an active member of the following professional societies:

  • American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA)
  • Association of Physician Assistants in Hospital Medicine
  • Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants
  • Society of Hospital Medicine
  • South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants

Volunteerism and Research

Ms. Dawson has volunteered for the CARES Clinic in Mt. Pleasant, the Fresh Start Surgical Gifts in Carlsbad, California, and the Karen D. Love Head Start Program in Linda Vista, California. She has also done research and presented her findings to peers, students and faculty in the Charleston area.
