Margaret Buchanan Bryant, DNP, FNP-BC, BSN

Dr. Bryant holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree and began her career in healthcare as a registered nurse at East Cooper Medical Center. She served as a staff nurse on the medical/surgical unit and cared for diverse population groups, including acute post-operative patients of the Southeastern Spine Institute. She has a keen interest in caring for the adult population and wrote her doctoral dissertation about the benefits of immunizations among the geriatric population. She is pleased to have joined the medical team at Southeastern Spine Institute as a nurse practitioner.

She is a lifelong resident of Mt. Pleasant and the proud mother of twins, Mary Ella and John. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as volunteering for the Coastal Conservation Association, an organization dedicated to marine wildlife preservation.

Education and background

Dr. Bryant earned her first nursing degree from Trident Technical College in Charleston, S.C., where she was a member of the Lambda Chi Nu Nursing Honor Society. While a registered nurse at East Cooper Medical Center, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Francis Marion University (FMU) in Florence, S.C., where she named to the President’s List.

She went on to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing and became a nurse practitioner in 2017. While attending graduate school, she was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Most recently, she earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from FMU and maintained a 4.0 GPA. She also is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (USC), where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She pledged Delta Delta Delta Sorority at USC and is a lifetime member.
