Transcriptionist Area: Medical Records General Statement of Duties: Transcribes medical correspondence of new and existing patient charts. Also assists physicians, office manager, and staff with dictated correspondence. Reporting/ Relationship: Medical Records Supervisor Typical Physical Demands: Work is of medium demand requiring personal contact, extensive sitting and bending daily to collect, review and replace charts/loose material and walking up and down stairs. Requiring bending, stooping, reaching, walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. Use computer video display, telephones, copiers, microfilm, fiche reader/printer and fax machine. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Medical terminology, types at least 60 wpm, utilizes appropriate grammar. Good organizational skills and is a team player. Education: High School diploma and courses in medical transcription preferred. Experience: At least 1 year as medical transcriptionist preferred.
